Vibrator causes bomb scare at Russian post office

When workers at a post office in northwest Russia heard a strange ticking sound coming from a package, they quickly called the bomb squad. However, when the professionals opened the parcel, they didn't find an explosive device – instead they found a sex toy, according to AFP.

The incident occurred in the republic of Karelia in a region known as Petrozavodsk. It appears that the vibrator had accidentally become switched on, which caused the ticking sound.

"The post building was ringed by the security forces and people were evacuated," a police spokeswoman told the news organization. "In the package the bomb squad found a vibrator."

This isn't the first time a toy meant for pleasure has caused such anxiety. According to the BBC, a similar incident occurred in Cape Town, South Africa, when a group of women sorting through recycling heard a strange sound coming from a bag of trash. The manager of the dump where the episode took place opened the bag to reveal a vibrator.

Sex toys such as the LifeStyles Vibrating Rings make an excellent gift, but if you are sending one of these items by mail, it may be best to remove the batteries first.
