Men drop the L bomb faster

Despite the stereotypes wrought by Casanova and other famous attitudes by actors and musicians, research suggests that men may actually fall in love much faster than women and consistently say the "L" word faster than their partner, according to The Telegraph.

The team discovered that most men believe they can tell if a woman is "the one" after a single date. Women are much more reluctant to fall head-over-heels for somebody, usually waiting until a sixth date before making a decision.

Almost one out of every four men said that they believed in love at first sight. This seems to correspond to the other revelations by the researchers – men fall in love around three times as much as women, who generally said that they really love just one person.

The survey was part of a larger initiative for a new book, The Way We Were, written by Elizabeth Noble. In it, she touches on the changing norms of relationships.

"It's much easier than it used to be to track down people from your past, using Facebook and other forms of social media…" Noble said, the news source reports. "But that doesn't mean it's always a good idea… If you're lucky, you will have fond memories of first loves, but even if you've aged, I'd argue you learn to take things forward into future relationships that can make those work better and stay stronger."

The findings by researchers seem to reflect this sentiment, as a high percentage of men reported having an unrequited love for someone.

No matter how many times you fall in love, it's best to act on your feelings with safety in mind. Passion sometimes gets the best of people, but that's no excuse for exposing yourself to common STDs. Using a condom each time you knock boots is an effective way to make sure that the sex is as safe as it is enjoyable.
