Is he cheating? Listen to his voice
A recent study published in the journal Evolutionary Psychology finds an interesting link between voice and he perception of infidelity. According to the research, the pitch of a person's voice may indicate whether other people think that they are likely to be unfaithful.
More than 100 men and women participated in the study. They listened to recordings of different types of voices, and then were asked to guess which of the voices sounded more like they belonged to a cheater.
The researchers found that men viewed high-pitched female voices as more likely to cheat, while women seemed to believe that male philanderers were more likely to have deeper, masculine pitches to their voice.
"The study found that the pitch of a voice may influence perception of fidelity in experimental settings," the report reads.
The researchers added that more investigation was needed to extend the study's findings into life outside the confines of the laboratory. However, the study may be something to keep in mind the next time you go on a hot date.
