iCondom helps users find protection
Ever been in a situation that's about to get hot and heavy, but realize that you have no condoms? These contraceptives can help protect against common STDs and prevent pregnancy, so it's important to use one during intercourse. But that doesn't mean that they're always convenient to find.
While drug stores sell them, where else can you turn? A convenience store, maybe. The bottom line is that a quest for condoms can entail a lot of walking around.
But not anymore. MTV Networks, a division of Viacom International Inc., has partnered with the makers of iCondom™ to release the iCondom app, which will be available on iPhone® and act as a way to quickly locate the nearest store that has condoms. Users are encouraged to input their own information too, like if a store is open 24 hours. The GPS in the phone will then direct people to their destination.
The best part is that it's totally free – the iCondom app is part of MTV's Staying Alive campaign, which is meant to promote awareness of HIV. Any money made off the campaign will go to the Staying Alive Foundation, the developers and the campaign advertisers. Commercials are being rolled out to support the app and the initiative.
This is one of the most recent ways that condoms have become more accessible to people. In India, there is a now a delivery service – condoms will be delivered right to a customer's doorstep so there's no need to go to a store, according to The Vancouver Sun.
Of course, one of the easiest methods to get contraceptives is to buy condoms online. This is a fast and easy way to get ready for your next hot date, without having to travel to the nearest store in the first place.
