Horny cartoon cat teaches about safe sex

French is considered to be the language of love – and that may explain why the country has taken a rather unique approach to sex education and prevention. Smutley the Cat, a cartoon kitty, is the nation's mascot of sex education and teaches about the drawbacks of having unprotected sex with multiple partners in a new YouTube clip.

In the two-minute video, which was produced by the French safe sex advocacy group AIDES, Smutley can be seen entering a number of hot spots where he picks up multiple partners. Among his encounters, he gets busy with a turtle at a bar called Furballs, a bunny in a steam room, a fish in an elevator, a fox in a taxi cab, several chickens in a locker room, a pig in an S&M dungeon, and an elephant in a library, among others.

At the end of the video, the screen reads "He's got nine lives, YOU only have one. Protect yourself."

Smutley is drawn in an old-timey fashion, much like Disney's early Mickey Mouse animations. The song Bad Reputation by Joan Jett plays in the background.

The video aims to encourage young people who have multiple sex partners to use condoms in order to prevent the spread of HIV, AIDS and other sexually transmitted infections
