Common sex mishaps and their remedies

Sex is a funny thing. In a culture that seems so intent on imagery and themes about knocking boots, from jokes to popular music to television, we never seem to actually get to the point where we have an earnest discussion with our partner. The bottom line is that we may be open with any kind of sex life other than our own, especially if it has been problematic.

That means that both guys and girls have a lot of unanswered questions about sexual health that often go unanswered. Fox News recently cited some of the most common issues.

Among males, one of the top worries is how to slow down, so that intercourse lasts longer and is more satisfying for a partner. Premature ejaculate (PE) affects one in three men, an issue that can cause unsatisfactory sex at best and a ruined relationship at worst. The news source recommends looking into different sexual positions and re-evaluating the psychology behind PE.

Women may be most concerned about how to reach orgasm in the first place. Some can have multiple climaxes after five minutes, others can go for an hour and still have no finish line in sight. In this case, there are a number of factors that could affect satisfaction. "For many women, the connection and intimacy of sex may be just as enjoyable, if not more enjoyable, than the act of orgasm itself," the website reports.

What about new parents who no longer have the leisure time to have long lovemaking sessions by candlelight? According to sexuality counselor Ian Kerner for CNN, it may be best to learn "the art of the quickie." That doesn't necessarily mean sex – something as PG as a hug could boost feelings of intimacy.
