Dating and Relationships

Ahhh, dating. The land of the free and home of the brave. Whether you’re thinking of taking the proverbial next step or just trying to figure out who and what you like, you’ll find advice for singles, couples, and everyone in between.

The Parent Trap

It’s no secret that once parents begin taking care of their kids, their sex lives can suffer. It’s harder to find privacy during the day and even if there is some time to sneak between the sheets, there’s always a chance that a child may need some help during the night.

So, most couples end up feeling dissatisfied in the bedroom. This is a rather common situation, according to Ireland’s The Independent, but that doesn’t mean that it has to be a necessary phase while the children grow up.

The key may be to put more of an emphasis on a straightforward attitude about desire.

“I’m absolutely amazed at how people have such difficulty even expressing where they are at with their sexual relationship,” sex therapist Eithne Bacuzzi told the publication. “The women say: ‘You don’t care about how tired I am. Can’t we just sometimes leave it at a hug?’ The men say: ‘I didn’t realize that, I just thought she didn’t want or desire me.'”

Children can complicate matters emotionally, as well. One mother of two explained to the news provider that she was so busy taking care of the kids all day that, by the time her husband got home and wanted to get down and dirty, she was too drained. Not only that, she says that “her need for closeness has been filled by then,” leaving little room for sex.

The sentiment highlights that shared by many couples. By the end of each day, they feel that they have given so much that a spouse’s urges are just another chore.

Most experts recommend spicing things up to prompt a sexual Renaissance. There are all sorts of fun bedroom accessories, from the LifeStyles™ vibrating ring to warming lubricant that can make the experience silky, smooth and pleasurable.
