Let’s face it - we’re all on a quest to have better sex. But a lot of us don’t really know how to get there. Discover everything you need when it comes to finding that elusive spot, getting better at foreplay, and mixing it up with role-playing.

Lack of Sleep May Lead to Lack of Hanky Panky

A new study conducted at the University of Chicago indicates that men who don’t get an adequate amount of sleep every night may not feel as up for a roll in the hay as their more well-rested peers, according to Men’s Health.

The bar appears to be set at five hours or less, because that’s when testosterone levels take a noticeable dive and sexual health decreases. For young men, this can actually lead to a 15 percent drop in overall testosterone levels, something that essentially ages the sex drive by 10 years.

Lack of sleep may lead to lack of hanky panky“Low testosterone levels are associated with reduced wellbeing and vigor, which may also occur as a consequence of sleep loss,” study leader Eve Van Cauter said, the news source reports. “As research progresses, low sleep duration and poor sleep quality are increasingly recognized as endocrine disruptors.”

For the study, 10 men were assessed for 11 nights. The first three days of the study, they slept 10 hours each night. They slept just five hours every night for the following eight days. The drop in testosterone ranged from 11 to 15 percent over the course of sleep deprivation.

Consequently, these findings show that if a man isn’t in the mood to use a condom and get busy, there can often be underlying factors. This study highlights sleep as one variable, but another often cited is stress. If a man’s head is still at the office or focused on an unpleasant experience, he’s much less likely to be in the mood.

There are other ways to simulate the male libido. Experts suggest introducing new things into a bedroom routine to spark the flame. Whether this means trying a new position, setting or bringing in personal lubricants, it’s crucial that everyone involved is relaxed, comfortable and has gotten enough sleep the night before.
